POLITENESS
Please think "sandwich".
Like every good sandwich, our interactions with others are often best begun with the word "please", then once they are completed, they should end with the word "thank you".
Politeness is about showing people you respect them, even if you disagree with them or are not fond of them.
But we are adults. We don't need reminding to say "please" and "thank you", do we? You bet we do.
